Welcome back, we hope you enjoyed your winter break. January is a busy month for everyone! Here is a brief newsletter to remind you of upcoming events.
Dress Attire:
It’s getting colder here in Modesto. Please dress dancers in layers so they are warm when dance begins. However, they need to remove sweaters or jackets after warm up. We suggest that you write their name in their clothes. If you are missing shoes, sweat pants, jackets or sweaters go through the lost in found in the main studio.
January Dancers of the Month:
Congratulations to the following dancers:
Pre Level – Drea Bava
Level I – Haiden Dahl
Level II – Nicolas Pineda
Level III – Hannah Hightman
Level IV & V – Chalalai Eggen
(Please pick up your gift certificate at the front desk.)
These dancers were nominated by their instructors as a “Super Star” dancer! Each dancer will receive a $20 gift certificate to be used to purchase 5*6*7*8 Dance Studio Apparel. At the end of the season, all recipients will be considered for a $200 gift certificate to be used to Summer School Tuition.
How do you become a Dancer of the Month? Each month our instructors will nominate a student(s) of their choice for dancer of the month. Tamie and Danette will review their nominations and select one dancer at each level of dance (Pre Dance, Level I, II, II and IV/V) for this honor.
January Spotlight Instructor: Cassie Weitze
Cassie has been dancing most of her life. She began dance 11 years ago at 5678 Dance Studio. Cassie was always a dedicated student who always wanted to do her best in class and strive for perfection. As Cassie continued in dance she became a member of 5678 Dance Company. Her passion for dance continued to grow. As she attended different dance conventions she fell in love with the styles of contemporary and hip hop dance. Cassie has been teaching with us for 8 years. She loves the smile on her students face as they learn something new or finally master a new step. We are sure that you all agree that it is a privilege to have Cassie on our 5678 Dance Studio Faculty.
Lobby Area:
Please remember that the lobby is not a playground. We have many dancers and their siblings running, doing cartwheels, and playing tag in the lobby. We do not want anyone to get hurt. Also, please make sure to keep toys to a minimum, and please remind dancers to keep their bags on the shelves or under the chairs. Please do not sit in front of the doors, dancers and instructors need to be able to get in and out of the studio. There is also NO EATING in the lobby. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.
Parking Lot:
Please do not park in front of the Standiford Vet building until after 6pm. Thank you.
Mommy & Me Class Session #2:
Our 2nd session of Mommy and Me has begun. It is held on Wednesdays 10-10:40am starting January 3rd and will conclude on Wednesday February 29th. This class will be $40 a month. This class is for ages 14 months to 2.5 years. Your little dancer will learn movements, rhythms, colors and of course have fun. Each child must be accompanied by an adult. We still have a few spots available. Sign up today!
Observation Windows:
Observation windows will only be open the first full week of the month. All other weeks of the month the windows will be closed. This is for the benefit of the dancers. When the windows are closed dancers are able to focus better and learn faster. It also gives them something to look forward to, so they can show their parents what they have learned that month. Please do not sit in front or set your bags in front of the observation windows. This will allow families to see their dancer safely. The observation windows will be opened for the following weeks.
February 6th -9th
March 5th -8th
April 2nd -5th
May 7th -10th
Restrooms:
We have noticed a lot of students using the restroom during classes. Please have your children use the restroom before class to insure they get the most out of their classes. If you have a little one please accompany them to the restroom to help keep our restrooms tidy. Thank you for your cooperation.
Winter Dance Camp:
We will be having a six week winter dance camp on Friday evenings from January 13th – February 17th. This camp is open to new and current dancers. There will be classes of all styles and ages. This is a great way to introduce a child to dance, or a way to try a new style of dance, or just have another day of dance. Classes are filling up, so sign up today.
Costumes:
If you have not ordered your costume yet, now is the time to do so! The deadline has past, but you still may be able to order them and get them in time for the recital.
